Kick to the face!
minor set back, accidently added algaecide that wasnt safe for aquatic invertebrates, true they do eat algae but it was pesky slime algae. luckily i was able to save the few individuals in the bucket. while im positive the nitrates had to be through the roof, i must say the shrimp were thriving, and were much bigger than they were when i first added them. but no worries ill just wait a few days and add them again. lesson of the day, read labels before adding chemicals to your water!

My experimental setup
for my first attempt at farming ive decided to try the simple approach. Ive started my first group of shrimp (cherry shrimp;yellow var.) in a 20 gallon bucket purchased from a local Lowes. But thats about as complicated as this setup got. with the exception of the shrimp all thats in the bucket is treated tapwater and a mature water lillie for oxygen and shelter. Currently there are three shrimp in this setup, they have been in there for about three days and seem to be doing well, if they can make it for another week ill add more; but for now its jus two females and a male.
